WALKING AROUND CAYO BLANCO

When we arrived to Cayo Blanco, the scorching sun was already burning down the sand and the water was warm and inviting. Not being a big fun of bursting into flames under the sun, I decided to grab the camera (by the way, it was the very first international flight and trip for my new Nikon D5100 and she was up to the task!!) and go exploring the surrounding areas.
Away from the shore, the cay (or key) is just a big mess of entangled tall trees leaning towards the water and stranded dried seaweed making cracking noises under my feet as I walk. We kept wondering the reason why this place was called a cay instead of an island. We found that out. It´s a cay because there is no drinking water. You need to bring your own water to cook or drink if you decide to stay there overnight. (Something tells me there is no staying overnight there)

    1. Marisa querida;
      Que gusto verte por aqui otra vez! Siempre es bueno leer tus comentarios. Me alegra mucho que te gusten tanto las fotos y el lugar. La verdad es que mi viaje a Cuba fue un sueño hermoso y no puedo decir que haya habido algo que no me gustara. Jamas había visto (o nadado) en un agua tan cristalina y serena como la de Cayo Blanco!
      Un abrazo grande!!

    1. Oh Diane, thank you!!
      In fact, those are not castanets, they are maracas keychains and I loved how colorful they were!! Cuba is a wonderful place to visit!
