WOULD YOU TAKE ME FOR A RIDE?

It´s been an emotional rollercoaster for me these past weeks and I couldn´t bring myself to actually taking photos of something else other than the new bundle of joy in the family. Though he won´t stay naked for some formal newborn photos I still can´t put my camara down when I´m around him!
So, in order to keep you away from a newborn overdose I´m posting some from my trip to Cuba. La Habana has the most neat cars I´ve ever seen! Some are pretty taken care of. Some not so much. However it´s so nice to see them driving down the streets with those vibrant colors.
The city is stuck in a decade... the ´50s are everywhere around La Habana.

FROM MY {IDEAL} WINDOW...

One of my dremas is to own a house with many, many windows. Not only because of the light pouring inside but for the balconies! I wanna have balconies everywhere, with little wooden window shades that I can paint a nice color like red or yellow or Greek blue. And I would have big and small pots filled with the most colorful and sweet smelling flowers! And maybe, if the balcony is big enough I have have a small chair and table that I can use to drink warm tea in the fall or a cold drink during the summer sunsets...
Oh, the dreams!...

MOODY PHOTOS FROM CUBA

There are times when I take a picture and the moment I lay my eyes on what I want to photograph I know it´s going to be a black and white picture. I believe that the black and white gives the image a lot of drama. I´ve seen color pictures that transform into real beauties the moment I turn them black and white. The black and white edit makes them look glamorous and moody.

FALLING IN LOVE

Have you ever loved a place the moment you set foot on it?
Have you ever felt you were actually leaving a piece of your heart at that said place when you left?
I never gave Cuba much thought before, never ever felt intrigued by it. It was just an island in the Caribbean sea. And then, out of nowhere I discovered a blog with photos of La Habana Vieja and felt a tug to my heart and this crazy need to be able to take photos of it myself begun to grow inside me.
Then, the opportunity came. A random post from a travel agency on Facebook and I was pretty much hooked. I was determined to go to Cuba and I didn´t mind doing it on my own. Then, my aunt and one of my cousins tagged along and off we were to the far away island.
I fell head over heels in love with Cuba.

NEW {AQUATIC} FRIENDS

Making new friends is something I always liked! Not that I excell at it but, at least, I try! Here I´m making friends with 2 slippery guys. These friendly dolphins would patiently wait for us, not so skilled swimmers, to make our ways to where they were. They would let us put our arms around them and they would plant a sweet kiss on each our cheeks. They would make those happy noises and then swam away to where their trainer guy was waiting for them with yummy fish!

WALKING AROUND CAYO BLANCO

When we arrived to Cayo Blanco, the scorching sun was already burning down the sand and the water was warm and inviting. Not being a big fun of bursting into flames under the sun, I decided to grab the camera (by the way, it was the very first international flight and trip for my new Nikon D5100 and she was up to the task!!) and go exploring the surrounding areas.
Away from the shore, the cay (or key) is just a big mess of entangled tall trees leaning towards the water and stranded dried seaweed making cracking noises under my feet as I walk. We kept wondering the reason why this place was called a cay instead of an island. We found that out. It´s a cay because there is no drinking water. You need to bring your own water to cook or drink if you decide to stay there overnight. (Something tells me there is no staying overnight there)
